The heart of Willow Glen is a strip of Lincoln Avenue running from Minnesota Avenue to Willow Street.
Near the corner of Lincoln and Minnesota you'll find Hickelbee's Books, where unknown author J.K. Rowling once read a chapter of her new book "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" to a handful of children and their parents.
A stroll down the avenue is like a trip to the past through a small downtown from the fifties and sixties because much of the original architecture and many of the original storefronts have been preserved.
Bergmanns store has been converted into a home furnishings store and a bakery.
Garden Theatre has been converted into a mini-mall and offices.
Willow Glen's Italian heritage is well represented. If you're hungry, stop at La Villa for a "Pint of Ravs", but be sure to take a number before getting in line.
If you're looking for something more upscale, try Vin Santo on the other side of the avenue.
And for dessert, stop at Willow Glen Frozen Yogurt and Ice Cream Company to try some of their famous frozen silk custard.
Come visit Lincoln Avenue and fall in love with Willow Glen!
